San Francisco  Önceden planladığımız  fakat pandemi nedeniyle ertelediğimiz Tahiti seyahatimizin ilk durağı San Fransisco’ya uçuşumuz 12 saat sürdü.  San Francisco bence ABD’nin en cazip şehirlerinden birisi. Geçmiş yıllarda gerek eğitim gerek tatil için San Fransisco’ya gelmiştim, tanıdığım bir şehir. Gözlemlediğim kadarıyla ABD, yaklaşık iki yıl süren pandemi döneminden olumsuz etkilenmiş. Şehir içerisinde birçok lokanta, alış veriş noktaları kapanmış. ABD halkının bilmediği enflasyon, halkın yaşamına  girmiş. Şu anda  açıklanan yıllık enflasyon oranı %6. Doların patronu FED (ABD Merkez Bankası) elbette gerekli önlemleri almaya çalışıyor fakat dünyanın birinci ekonomisinde taşların yerine oturması herhalde bir kaç yıl sürecek gibi.   İzlenimlerimi şöyle sıralamak isterim:  1) Ülke ekonomisinde “tedarik zincirinin” önemi ve işleyişi daha da artmış. Devlet iç üretimin artması için spot reklamlar yapıyor.  2) Tüm olumsuzluklara rağmen dolar kuvvetli para birimi ve bir dolar olarak verilen bahşiş karşılığında oldukça saygılı bir teşekkür alınıyor.  3) ABD halkının olmazsa olmazı lokantalardır çünkü dışarıda yemek ve içmek halkın çok önemli bir kültürüdür. Lokantalarda çalışan garsonların geçim kaynağı servisten aldıkları bahşiştir. 4) ABD’de güzel yaşamın tek kaynağı paradır ve bunu kazanmak için çok çalışmak gerekiyor. Birçok kişi günlük işinin yanında ek gelir için hafta sonraları ek işlerde çalışıyorlar. Ve bu toplumda çok normaldir.  5) Kaliforniya eyaleti ekonomiye yaptığı katkı açısından ABD’nin en zengin eyaleti. Birçok şirketin teknoloji ve AR-GE merkezi Silicon Valley yine bu eyalette.  6) San Francisco caddelerinde her türlü markadan üretilmiş elektrikli arabalar fazlaca görülüyor. Tesla lider durumda. En fazla dikkatimi çeken ise Waymo. Google ve Tesla ortaklığında üretilen şoförsüz otomobillerin sayıca fazla olmasa da caddelerde seyr etmesi.  7) San Francisco geçmiş yıllarda depremler yaşadığı için yerleşim mahalleri iki katlı olarak inşa edilmiş.    Gezilecek yerler ile ilgili bir kaç bilgiyi de buraya bırakalım:    1) Tarihi Alcatraz adasındaki hapishane.  2) Kuzeyde Napa Valley (bağ ve şarap vadisi). Çok güzel lokantalarda çok güzel şaraplar eşliğinde damak zevkine varılacak bir bölge. Ayrıca Carmel, Pebble Beach ve Sausoli görülmeye değer yerler.  3) Şehir  merkezden tarihi tramvayla son durağa kadar gitmek  ve deniz kıyısında  gezinti (Fisherman’s Wharf). Güzergah üzerinde dünyanın en virajlı caddesi olarak ifade edilen Lombard Street’i görmek.  4) Golden Gate köprüsü üzerinde yürüyüş. Dr. Halil Dölek      Article in English    San Francisco    Our flight to San Francisco took 12 hours,  the first stop of our Tahiti trip which we had planned in advance but postponed due to the pandemic.    I think San Francisco is one of the most attractive cities in the USA. I have been in San Francisco for both education and vacation in the past years, it is a city I know a bit.  As far as I observed, the USA has been negatively affected by the pandemic period since two years. Many restaurants and shopping centers were closed in the city. Inflation, which the US people did not know, has entered the lives of the people. The annual inflation rate currently announced is 6%. The FED (US Federal Reserve), the boss of the dollar, is of course trying to take the necessary measures, but I think these measures will probably take  in USA  a few years.    I would like to list my impressions as follows:   1) The importance and understanding of the "supply chain" in the national economy has increased. The government is running spot ads to increase domestic production. 2) Despite all the negativity, the dollar is a strong currency and a tip in dollars is received with a very respectful thank you. 3) Restaurants are indispensable for the US people because eating and drinking out is a very important culture of the people.  4) The only source of a good life in the USA is to earn money and you have to work hard to earn it. Many people work additional jobs on the weekends for extra income in addition to their day job. And this is very normal at Americans.  5) California is the richest state in the US in terms of its contribution to the national economy. Silicon Valley,  research and development center of many companies, is also in this state. 6) On the streets of San Francisco, electric cars of all brands are well-supplied. Tesla is the leader. The one that attracts my attention the most is Waymo. The driverless cars produced in partnership with Google and Tesla are traveling on the streets, although not in large numbers. 7) Since San Francisco has experienced earthquakes in the past years, large residential neighborhoods have been built as two-story house.    Let's leave some information about the places to visit in SFO:    1) The prison on the historic island of Alcatraz. 2) To the north is Napa Valley (the valley of vineyards and wine). It is a region where you can enjoy very good wines in very good restaurants. Also areas Carmel, Pebble Beach and Sausoli are worth for a visit. 3) Take the historic tram from the city center to the last stop and stroll along the seashore (Fisherman's Wharf). On the route, see Lombard Street, which is said to be the crookedest street  in the world. 4) Walking over the Golden Gate Bridge.   Dr. Halil Dölek
